Debate goes to the core

Buckinghamshire County Council is to stage a series of public meetings to give residents their chance to question its minerals and waste core strategy.

The first meetings are to be held in Aylesbury and Beaconsfield in March, with BBC radio and television journalist, Susan Bookbinder, chairing a Question time format for residents to quiz a panel of technical experts.

Buckinghamshire is responsible for the disposal of 2.5mt of waste a year but only around 11% of this, about 270,000t, is waste produced by householders. The minerals and waste strategy identifies sites in Buckinghamshire suitable for major waste facilities.
