Cumbria selects a new chief for roads

Cumbria County Council has appointed Marie Fallon as its new corporate director with responsibility for roads and highways.

Ms Fallon joins the local authority from the London Borough of Enfield where she was interim director of place shaping and enterprise, prior to which she was Newcastle City Council’s director of regeneration. She will oversee the council’s £700M waste disposal contract with Shanks and the continued work on the Carlisle Northern Development Route. She will also be responsible for nuclear issues and transport and land use.

Her predecessor, Charles Green, will continue at the council on an interim basis providing support to deputy chief executive Jill Stannard. Meanwhile, Alan Feist has been appointed a director of sustainable transport at the new unitary Wiltshire Council.
