County signals start of summer campaign to cut motorcycle KSIs

A campaign to cut the number of motorcyclists killed or injured on county roads is being launched in Gloucestershire.

The newly-formed Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership is launching the drive as the summer starts and bikers flock to Gloucestershire’s winding roads.

Signs warning motorists to look out for motorcycles, and reminding bikers to take more care, will be erected along key accident black spots across the county. Think Bike! stickers will also be given out for motorists to display in the rear window of their vehicles.

From 2006 to 2008, 22 motorcyclists were killed on county roads – 19% of all road deaths in Gloucestershire – and another 520 bikers were injured.

The Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership is also offering bikers the chance to brush up on their riding skills through the Roadcraft course.

Working with Gloucestershire Constabulary, two-day better biking courses will be running throughout the summer.
