County sets sites on EfW

Suffolk is to offer its highways maintenance depot in Great Blakenham as a potential site for its energy-from-waste plant.

The site will be offered to companies interested in bidding to build a residual waste facility in Suffolk over the next six years. Cllr Eddy Alcock, portfolio holder for environment and waste management, said the county would consider other solutions from potential bidders, but an EfW incinerator was ‘likely to be the best solution for Suffolk’.

The determination of the location will be subject to public consultation.
