In last week’s investigation into the enforcement of littering, the table on page 16 ‘Chasing the non-payers’ should have read ‘percentage paid’, not ‘percentage unpaid’. The main body of the article was correct to say that 70% of fixed-penalty notices issued by authorities, such as Newcastle and Nottingham, were paid, while many councils’ FPNs were paid by less than half those receiving them.
