The Department for Transport is launching its delayed public consultation on integrated public transport ticketing in June.
This will enable it to evaluate the results of an extraordinary general meeting, on 2 June, of members of smart payment standards body, ITSO.
The DfT’s existing consultation on local authority administration of concessionary travel closes on 21 July. One new factor is emerging from interest being expressed by the Department for Work and Pensions in the potential of concessionary cards for additional elderly-related applications.
Meanwhile, 10 June is the deadline for councils to seek from ITSO a derogation from its 31 December 2009 deadline for a seven-year phase-out of traditional Mifare Classic cards in travel and citizen card schemes, because of security flaws.
