Congestion charge: Boris extends his authority

The future of the western extension to London’s congestion charging zone will be the subject of a five-week consultation, announced by mayor Boris Johnson. Transport for London will talk with residents, retailers and businesses within or on the borders of the extension, but anyone can contribute to the consultation. ‘The western extension is a massive issue for those who live and work in the west of our city, and the consultation is likely to elicit strong views,’ Johnson said. ‘Yes, there will be the option of scrapping it, but there will be other options, including keeping it, and changing certain aspects of it, like whether it should operate all day.’
