Edinburgh City Council’s transport chief looks set to swap jobs with his finance counterpart.
Cllr Phil Wheeler will be replaced by finance and resources leader, Cllr Gordon Mackenzie, as the convenor of transport, infrastructure and environment (TIE) at a full council meeting next week.
Newspaper reports suggest the move came about because of widespread concern over his handling of the city’s tram project.
According to The Scotsman newspaper, he was ousted from his role by one vote by fellow Liberal Democrat councillors in a ‘snub’ to council leader, Jenny Dawe, who is alleged to be one of Wheeler’s strongest allies.
