Cockell slams planning ideas

Cllr Merrick Cockell chairman of the Association of London Government has slated plans put forward by the Communities and Local Government Secretary Ruth Kelly to give the Mayor of London greater powers over local planning applications.

‘Tearing away strategic planning powers from the 33 borough planning committees is truly a retrograde step,’ he told a seminar at the London School of Economics.
