Coast is clear for walkers

A new pathway for walkers and cyclists linking villages along Northumberland’s coastline was unveiled last week.

The £140,000 path between Seahouses and Beadnell was completed by Northumberland County Council and the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Partnership.

The 1.6-mile path is accessible not only for walkers and cyclists, but also for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Cllr John Smith, Northumberland’s executive member for highways, said: ‘The path was completed about six weeks ago and will not only benefit local people, but also tourists staying at the caravan and campsite in both villages.’
