City regions guidance to be unveiled, despite reshuffle

A local government white paper to provide streamlined city region government structures will be published despite the recent reshuffle, ministers have confirmed.
Local government minister Phil Woolas told council leaders taking part in a recent on-line debate that the policy was based on the Labour party manifesto, and was likely to cover multi-authority agreements for city regions.
Lancaster City Council ‘has a point’ on the need to better tie transport decision-making with economic development, Woolas added.
An official from Lancaster had complained that the city’s economic links are with
Cumbria but that transport decisions are made by Lancashire County Council.
