City prepares for Grid locks

National Grid has started a major replacement of gas mains across Chester city centre.
Major engineering work began on Sunday 14 January to replace 700m of gas main in Grosvenor Road and Grosvenor bridge areas of the city.
It is estimated the work will take about eight weeks, and is due to be completed by 10 March.
A spokesman for National Grid said: ‘The scale of the work requires the partial closure of Grosvenor Bridge and the introduction of a number of traffic diversions to accommodate this.’
