City has flood of ideas

 
Newcastle City Council is to consider improving drainage capacity, changing road layouts, and installing new gullies following a review into flooding caused by extreme storms last year. The council stressed that upgrading the drainage network was ‘very complex’, as it reached the conclusion that drains had struggled to cope with intense rainfall. But it had, in the short term, bought three new water pumps and set up an extra gulley-cleaning crew.
