Children’s travel pack extended

An annual funding package of £7.5M for sustainable school transport has been safeguarded for another two years, ministers have announced.

The Travelling to School Project, a joint initiative between the Department for Transport and the Department for Children Schools and Families, encourages children to walk, cycle, or take public transport to school.

Transport minister, Rosie Winterton, and schools minister, Andrew Adonis, confirmed the funding for at least another two years earlier this week.
