Children’s charity gets a lift

A transport charity which helps sick children without access to a car has been given a £32,000 boost from public transport leaders.

Transport for Sick Children uses volunteers to provide children with lifts to hospital. Greater Manchester Transport Authority pledged to give the money over the next two years.

Councillor Roger Jones said: ‘Transport for Sick Children does a great job and I’m pleased we are able to provide this money. ‘Parents on low incomes often find it difficult to take their children to health appointments as they don’t have a car and can’t afford taxis. Some have to travel long distances to specialist centres.’
