Chelmsford bus station finally turns up trumps

Chelmsford’s new bus station has finally opened, following complications caused by a design fault.
The new bus station offers real-time passenger information, and on-site travel shop, waiting facilities, and customer retail facilities.
The opening of the bus station in the Essex town was initially delayed because the turning circle was not big enough to allow buses to turn around without reversing. It has since been enlarged.
Cllr Rodney Bass, cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: ‘This project is an excellent example of partnership working between the public and private sectors for the benefit of local people.
‘This development is one of the largest mixed-use facilities. Not only does it include the bus station and retail outlets, but also ultra-modern apartments and public open spaces.’
