Cheaper season tickets for drivers displaying their green credentials

Manchester City Council has given the go ahead for a Green Badge parking scheme, aimed at benefiting drivers of low-emission vehicles.
Initially, the project will offer a 25% reduction in the cost of an annual season ticket in all NCP Manchester Limited’s (NML) main car parks to drivers of vehicles with emissions of less than 120g/km (CO2). The project aims to increase the number of regular Manchester drivers who drive a low carbon vehicle from 2% to 5%.
Cllr Neil Swannick, executive member for planning and environment, said: ‘Manchester has committed itself to becoming the greenest city in Britain. While using public transport is the best way to travel, we recognise that this isn’t practical for everyone, so we have identified cheaper parking as a great way to reward drivers who help us to cut climate change emissions.
