Cathedral city offers free vehicle collection to clear unholy sights

‘Operation scrap it’ has been launched in Winchester in a bid to crack down on the number of vehicles dumped around the city.
Winchester City Council claims the issue has become more noticeable since the EU introduced strict regulations about the disposal, recycling and recovery of vehicles – making the scrapping of the old family motor an expensive task. So, in an effort to promote cleaner safer neighbourhoods, the council’s neighbourhood warden service and licensing departments have arranged a two-week free collection and disposal service. The amnesty runs between 5-16 February and applies to any vehicle, caravan or trailer, other than mobile homes and static caravans.
