Capital’s latest railway crossing offers a shared experience

A new foot and cycle bridge has opened over a railway line in the London borough of Hounslow.

The new, shared-use bridge, built alongside the existing road bridge, will make it easier and safer for pedestrians and cyclists to travel in the area. There is no path for pedestrians on the existing bridge, and cyclists share the narrow road with other traffic.

The bridge will improve Hounslow’s cycling provision, as the council works with Transport for London and the mayor of London to become a ‘true’ biking borough.

TfL invested £950,000 in the bridge, over the railway line on Bedfont Road, and the council contributed £400,000.
