Edinburgh council is seeking ‘views on views’ as part of a new study aimed at protecting the city’s skyline.

The Skyline Study will canvas public opinion on the most precious views of Edinburgh to ensure the city’s important features are identified, and that appropriate decisions are made to protect and enhance these features or views for future generations.
An exhibition accompanying the study highlights examples of features which define Edinburgh, such as the Castle on its rock, the Old Town spine, the New Town, Calton Hill and Arthur’s Seat. The exhibition will travel to various city locations over the next two months, providing residents with the opportunity to offer their opinions on the city’s best views.
Dave Anderson, senior director of operations at Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian, said: ‘We must ensure that future development within the city strikes the balance of creating a vibrant and dynamic capital city while maintaining and respecting the city’s history and heritage.’
