Capita Symonds has been apppointed as project consultants for an ambitious £40M waterfront regeneration scheme for the Isle of Skye capital Portree.

The regeneration plans, unveiled earlier this year, propose a complete makeover of Portree’s historic waterfront and Telford harbour areas with major tourism-related development.

An initial bid for lottery funding was unsuccessful but Highland Council has now asked Capita Symonds to lead work on finance and development partnerships.

The scheme proposes an iconic new building to house a ‘Skye experience’, improved berthing facilities for cruise ships and the fishing fleet, and a new marina.
