Canal system is un-locked

 
Transport for London has contributed £4M towards a new lock to alleviate congestion in the capital by getting more freight onto the waterways.

The new facilities at the Three Mills Lock, in Bromley-by-Bow, will enable freight operators to bypass London’s roads and use the network of waterways in and around the Olympic Park as a ‘more sustainable and environmentally friendly way of moving goods’.

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: ‘The revitalisation of this network of canals, after decades of decline, heralds a new age of water transport in the capital.’
