Cambridge unveils TIF bid

Cambridgeshire County Council has formally given the ‘go ahead’ to its Transport Innovation Fund bid.

The council’s cabinet unanimously agreed the proposals and applied for £500M worth of funding for improvements to public transport and a congestion charge in the city.

However, a spokesman said a congestion charge would not be given approval until after a public consultation and major public transport improvements.

‘No decision has been made on a congestion charge. This application is about ensuring we get the necessary funds to cope with our growing population and transport needs,’ he said.

The plans were first unveiled in July.
