Call to revise bus targets

 
Challenging new targets for bus growth with the largest local authorities need to be agreed, MPs said this week.
The public accounts select committee said that councils with low bus growth rates needed to be challenged by the Department for Transport to learn from those with thriving services, such as Nottinghamshire and Exeter. The department also needed to encourage longer contracts and area-wide as opposed to route-based contracts in order to make greater savings.
