Bus passes become an issue

Thurrock Council is introducing a new digital system for issuing free bus passes and library cards to elderly and disabled residents.

Thurrock Passenger Transport Unit has joined forces with the library service to introduce new combined library and travel card scheme, with library staff able to take digital photographs and help applicants fill in computerised forms.

Cllr Tunde Ojetola, cabinet member for transport, said: ‘We have led the way in Thurrock by introducing the free bus passes, and we are again leading the way by using this new technology. This will make life much easier for our residents.’
