Bury line set to reopen

The Bury line on Manchester’s Metrolink is to reopen next week after a multi-million refurbishment.

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) is investing over £100M on various improvements across the existing Metrolink network, which will include extra trams, stop upgrades and new ticket machines.

This summer's work saw engineers lay nearly 40 miles of track, 60,000 tonnes of stone and 40,000 sleepers on the Bury and Altrincham lines, and platform surfaces were upgraded to make it easier to get on and off the trams.
