Bucks switch-off takes off

The second stage of Buckinghamshire’s streetlight switch-off got under way this week.

A total of 1,700 streetlights at 39 rural and semi-rural locations across the county will be turned off for at least three years.

Phase one of the trial, which was implemented in August 2007 (Surveyor, 9 August 2007), saw 300 streetlights at seven rural and semi-rural sites throughout the county being switched off. Buckinghamshire says each site has been inspected with road safety in mind.
