Bristol gears up for free bus passes

Council transport officials in Bristol are gearing up to launch the area's first 100% free bus passes for pensioners and disabled residents, together with improved bus services on routes serving some parts of the city.
The double boost to public transport from the start of April follows a £3.9 million-plus increase in funding agreed last week by the city council as part of its budget setting.
Bristol said that it would be providing a free travel scheme that was 'better than the statutory minimum'.
