Bridge strengthening

Network Rail is to strengthen three road-over-rail bridges in Lancashire to bring them up to European standards.
The £3.5M investment is part of the Bridgeguard 3 programme, which is assessing nearly 1,000 bridges in the North West to ensure they can carry the large commercial vehicles now permitted on the UK’s roads under recent EU legislation. ~Lancashire County Council~ is behind most of the funding.
