Bosses give Ken low down

London’s mayor could free up £100M for ‘more effective’ environmental initiatives by reducing the scale of his proposed low-emission zone, according to businesses in the capital.

London First is challenging the inclusion of ‘green and leafy’ parts of outer London – such as Hampton Court, Epping Forest and Richmond Hill – in the zone. Instead, Ken Livingstone should focus on the worst pollution – concentrated in central London - using existing congestion charging infrastructure. Transport for London is considering responses to its proposals for a London-wide LEZ from 2008.
