Borough parades its preferences for Tramlink route to Crystal Palace

London Borough of Croydon’s favoured route for the proposed Tramlink extension to Crystal Palace Parade is the hybrid option that involves a mix of street-running and utilisation of the rail corridor to Crystal Palace station.
The council favours this route – option 3 – over the two others put forward by Transport for London because it offers the best links with rail services at Crystal Palace, while a shorter on-street section would minimise disruption.
Cllr Chris Wright, cabinet member for planning, environment and urban development, said: ‘Extending Tramlink to Crystal Palace Parade is something the council supports. We hope it will be the first of many new routes for this popular and highly-efficient means of public transport.’
If given the go-ahead, the extension would reduce journey time between Croydon and Crystal Palace to just 18 minutes.
