An £11.6M bid for transport investment in Dover and Shoreham is being backed by the South East England Regional Transport Board.
The bid, to the Government’s Community Infrastructure Fund, covers projects including improvements to Dover Priory train station, new bus lanes, real-time travel information, extra bus stops and improved pedestrians crossings.
In Shoreham, West Sussex, the funding would go towards cyclist and pedestrian facilities to support access to a new bridge across the harbour. Better transport links with Brighton and Hove would also be pursued.
The Borough of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk has also submitted an £18.2M bid to help fund improvements to traffic conditions and promote public transport. The town has growth point status, meaning it has access to government funding from the Department for Communities and Local Government, and the Department for Transport’s CIF.
