Birmingham’s easy-access map is a step in the right direction

The best routes for pedestrians and cyclists across Birmingham have been highlighted in a new map published this week. The map, launched by the city council’s cabinet member for transport, Cllr ~Len Gregory~ at Birmingham’s annual transport summit, features colour codes for different routes, including those adjacent to roads, traffic-free routes through green spaces, or along canal towpaths, or on unsurfaced routes – the latter being suitable for mountain bikes, walkers and ‘all-terrain child buggies’. The map also advises cyclists to keep to safe speeds where sharing space with pedestrians. Maps are available from Birmingham. cycling@birmingham.gov.uk
