Bill sinks offroad adventures for BOAT fans

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is set to erect signs on public footpaths and bridleways warning that there are no public rights of way along them for motorised vehicles. The move comes after the sections of the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act, banning recreational motor vehicle use on Byways Open to All Traffic, came into force last week. More than 240km of BOATs were used by motor vehicle-users in the park prior to the new law. The authority also intends to take up the new powers to introduce traffic regulation orders when they are introduced in October. They proved to be necessary after a trial of four experimental TROs on ‘green lanes’ – unsurfaced RoW and county roads – were introduced with ~North Yorkshire County Council~.
