Better access to education

Students can cycle more safely to an Oxfordshire school, following completion of the National Cycle Network route between Oxford and Thame.

Boris Johnson, MP for Henley on Thames, was due to attend the official opening this week. The traffic-free path links the village of Shabbington to Lord Williams’ Upper School in Thame, and includes a new one-mile stretch beside the busy A418. Part of the Transport Links to Schools programme, it was funded through the county’s local transport plan and £90,000 from cycling engineering charity Sustrans’ grant from the Department for Transport.
