Ball blaster starts work

Engineering works using a texture blaster machine that contains hundreds of tiny metal balls began this week on the A21, in an effort to improve road safety.
The machine, made by Dutch company Texture Blaster Ltd, blasts the balls at high pressure into the surface of the highway to roughen the texture. By doing so, tyre grip is improved, therefore reducing braking distances. The work will take place overnight between Sevenoaks and Baldsow in Kent, and is due to be finished by the end of March.
