Audience gives mixed response to Stratford’s latest production

The Warwickshire public and a judging panel have singled out a winning pedestrian and cycle footbridge for Stratford upon Avon.
Design B was chosen from five submissions, with the panel excited by the prospect of the ‘thinnest arch bridge in the world’, and its ‘modest, simple and elegant’ design. Warwickshire County Council will now consider this recommendation together with the consultation results on 22 and 23 November.
However, the public consultation of 2,500 people found 56% of respondents were not content with the proposal, with many requesting further information.
The proposed bridge is designed to improve access to schools and businesses for pedestrians and cyclists; provide a safe cycling route which links into the national cycle network; and disperse congestion around the Bancroft Gardens area of Stratford.
