Atkins has appointed David Brewer as its new market director for strategic rail.
The design, engineering and project management consultancy, poached Mr Brewer from Highways England where he was on the executive committee and worked as its network delivery and development director.
Mr Brewer will lead the strategic rail client team at Atkins, which offers a range of services from strategic advice through to large engineering, procurement and construction schemes.

Atkins is also hoping to develop its long-term market strategy both in the UK and overseas with am focus on new technologies.
Philip Hoare, Atkins’ managing director of transportation UK and Europe, said: ‘David shares my passion for health and safety and continuing to develop our behavioural safety culture both within Atkins and the industry. David brings with him a wealth of experience in leading multiple large complex programmes and will work closely with our client and project delivery teams, building strong client relationships and continuing to build our reputation in the sector.
