Approval process needs light touch

 
A report has urged central government to work closer with regional partners to adopt a light touch approval process to help speed up local transport project (LTP) schemes.


The Regional Funding Advice (RFA) plan – prepared by the West Midlands Shadow Joint Strategy and Investment Board in association with other partners including the Highways Agency – has also called for investment in a range of transport schemes to boost local economies.


Advantage West Midlands Chairman Nick Paul CBE, said: ‘Given the backdrop of an economic recession, the RFA suggests focusing on key projects that will assist the region’s businesses and communities face up to the current economic challenges and set the direction of travel so a stronger regional economy emerges.’
