Application is on its way

Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that the application for a common permit scheme will be made to the Department for Transport in the coming weeks.

It was thought the 19 boroughs had originally planned to make the official application to the transport secretary, Lord Adonis, last week.

However, a TfL spokeswoman said the date of application depended on consultations, and the organisation was incorporating some final feedback in order to be as thorough as possible.

The spokeswoman denied the scheme was behind schedule and rejected the claim a self-imposed deadline had been missed.
