Analysis: Forth Bridge closure - expecting the unexpected

 

The Forth Road Bridge has closed and will not reopen until next year after the discovery of a crack in a steel component, prompting a large-scale mobilization of contingency plans.

As with all such instances, the process itself is a steep learning curve. In this case it appears the public’s reluctance to use buses is undermining the effectiveness of a contingency measure implemented this week.
