Analysis: Appraisals, evaluations and barriers

 

Opportunities are being missed to use appraisals of transport projects to inform subsequent evaluations and vice versa, including understanding the impacts of transport projects on the economy, where there are ‘deficiencies in the evidence base’.

A report from the Department for Transport (DfT) has identified five key barriers that weaken the links between the appraisals on which decisions on new projects are made and evaluations, making recommendations to improve both.
