Amey to lead flood inquiry

Roads construction consultancy firm Amey Consulting has been appointed to lead an investigation into the flooding of the Broadway Underpass in Belfast.

Transport Minister Conor Murphy ordered a full independent investigation into why the newly-opened underpass became submerged during heavy rainfall on August 16, and the Department of Regional Development has now confirmed Amey will be leading the probe.

A spokesperson for DRT said: ‘Amey are experienced consultants in the field of roads construction with expertise in design, build, finance and operate projects. Amey have not been involved in the design and construction of the Westlink.’
