Alternate collection binned by Rushmoor

Rushmoor Borough Council in Hampshire is reverting to its weekly waste collection, following residents’ complaints – but will introduce smaller bins.

A six-month trial saw 6,000 households having their rubbish and recycling collected on alternate weeks, but residents rejected the scheme. In response, the council decided smaller bins would encourage households to think more about what they threw away, but maintaining weekly collections would help address hygiene concerns raised.

As long as households are recycling and composting all they can, the council said it would deal with remaining waste.
