Adonis welcomes £1.8M investment in AccessBus fleet

Transport secretary, Lord Adonis, has welcomed Metro’s £1.8M investment in a fleet of new buses for its Leeds-based AccessBus service.

Metro chairman, Cllr Ryk Downes, showed Lord Adonis one of the 19 new, fully-accessible vehicles, which has been purchased as part of a major overhaul of the AccessBus fleet.

The service provides 550,000 journeys every year to people who are unable to use conventional buses in the region.

The minister said: ‘Metro’s AccessBus service provides an important lifeline for many people in West Yorkshire, and these new buses will make it even easier for people who are unable to use conventional bus services to get around.’
