Action stations for Laing and Warwickshire as £9M project begins

Work is underway on a £9M scheme to build a new rail station, bus interchange and road bridge on the Nuneaton-Birmingham line to serve an industrial site at Coleshill.
The new station is being built for joint promoters Warwickshire County Council and Laing Rail on the site of a station that closed in 1964 as part of the Dr Beeching cuts. Contractor Carillion’s works will take eight months, with the station ready for opening by January. Warwickshire is set to provide a new network of bus services with a fleet it will buy at a cost of £825,000.
The
Department for Transport  provided a long-awaited decision on its £4M contribution in March, following fears that any further delay would mean Warwickshire losing the railway track possessions (Surveyor, 19 January).
