Acquisition of public services company shows enterprise

Public sector and utility services company Enterprise has reached a conditional agreement to acquire Accord.

The combined company would become one of the largest suppliers of maintenance services to local authorities in the UK. Completion of the legal processes is expected to take place before the end of September.

The company will provide services in highways maintenance and inspection, streetscene, refuse and environmental services, social housing maintenance and business process ‘re-engineering’.

Enterprise has annual revenue of £800M and has been serving the public sector market for 20 years. Leading customers include Liverpool and Wolverhampton city councils, alongside BT, Severn Trent, Thames Water and the Ministry of Defence. Accord was created in 1999 and has an annual turnover of £300M.

Principal clients include Oxfordshire County Council, Gloucester City Council, London boroughs and Transport for London, and the Highways Agency. ‘We will continue to work with our customers to deliver value-added high-quality public services which deliver-locally based agendas for sustainable communities,’ the company said in a statement.
