The grand finale of councils' Live Labs programme is taking place in Derby this December, with authorities presenting the results of their groundbreaking work trialling innovations on the local network.
The two-year, £22.9m programme funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) and delivered through council directors' body ADEPT, was designed to give real-world trials to new and sometimes experimental technology.
Transport minister Baroness Vere of Norbiton and Stephen Fidler, co-director for local transport at the DfT, will be among the senior figures speaking at the free event on 1 December at Derby County Football Club.
Other big names include Paul Doney, director for innovation at National Highways and Peter Molyneux, major roads director at Transport for the North, as well as a string of senior officers from prominent local authorities.
Delegates to the ADEPT SMART Places Live Labs Expo can:
- Meet the Live Labs teams and their partners, and the local businesses delivering Live Labs technologies
- Find out how big data can reshape highways asset management
- Find out how partnerships between local authorities and business are driving the adoption of new technologies across local roads
