£94M deal for Leeds lights

 
The Department for Transport is to give ~Leeds City Council~ £94.6M of private-finance initiative funding for its contract with TVL Lighting (Leeds).
The funding will be used to replace some 73,500 streetlighting columns, and to install around 6,000 new ones. It also will see 11,000 ageing illuminated signs replaced.
Leeds is the 13th PFI streetlighting contract to get the funding go-ahead, and brings the total amount of money released by the DfT to date to £361M. Another £600M of credits were announced in February.
