7% drop in London KSIs

 
The number of people killed or seriously injured on London’s roads fell by 7% last year, it has been revealed.


According to Transport for London’s annual road casualty statistics, there were 1,208 fatalities or serious injuries in 2008 – down 258 from the previous year.


Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: ‘A great deal of hard work is put into making the capital’s roads safer, and these latest figures provide a welcome indication that things are improving.’ TfL will spend a further £45M on road safety schemes during 2009/10.
